Dr. Donavan Receives the Orange County Department of Education Music and Arts Award

Dr. Donavan’s vision and support for arts and music education for all students has been a driving force behind several groundbreaking initiatives in the Magnolia School District. Thanks to additional State funding, Dr. Donavan led the District to add and retain additional full-time music teachers in all schools, ensuring that every student has consistent access to quality music education. His leadership was instrumental in the establishment of the Juliette Low School of the Arts and the Piano Lab, which provides students with hands-on, immersive experiences in music education. This initiative has greatly expanded access to quality music instruction and inspired a new generation of student musicians. In addition to this, Dr. Donavan’s commitment to the growth and sustainability of the Arts led to the creation of the after-school Expanded Learning Program. This program provides students with additional opportunities to explore the Arts, including digital music, dance, and visual arts, in an extended learning environment. It has become a crucial component of the District’s strategy to cultivate well-rounded students through creative expression. The Board of Trustees and Dr. Donavan are in support of the building of a new Expanded Learning Program Performing Arts Center where student performances will be held throughout the school year. His forward-thinking approach has not only improved the quality of arts education, but has also helped to build a lasting culture of creativity throughout the District and increased access to music instruction for every student in the District.
