Across the district, schools are creating meaningful experiences that strengthen learning and community. Students were welcomed by Anaheim Police during a special morning visit, one campus earned national recognition as a 2026 America’s Best Schools Award finalist, and families joined a hands-on math workshop to better support learning at home. Other highlights included a Father-Daughter Dance, student-led literacy fundraisers, Kindness Week activities, a “Lunch With a Loved One” event, a Kids Heart Challenge promoting wellness and service, and a solar cooker project that brought science and engineering to life.]]></description>

Dr. Jonas E. Salk School – Featured the Big Buddies program, fostering social and emotional growth through mentorship, reading activities, and fun projects between younger and older students.

Dr. Peter Marshall Elementary – Showcased the PTA’s role in organizing community-building events like Board Game Night, a Valentine’s Dance, and Trunk or Treat.

Esther L. Walter School – Introduced the new school playground, emphasizing the joy and physical benefits it brings to students.

Juliette Low School of the Arts – Discussed the Legacy Books initiative, which aims to provide every student with their own personal library by the time they graduate.

					<description><![CDATA[Graduating high school seniors from Savannah High School, Magnolia High School and Oxford Academy visited their former Magnolia School District elementary schools on Monday, May 22, 2023.  Seniors entered the schools accompanied by the marching band and paraded through their former schools.  Students cheered as the seniors walked through, giving them high-fives and clapping their hands.  Students and teachers made signs for the seniors and congratulated the graduates.  This tradition provides our elementary students an insight of what they can accomplish and our teachers were beyond excited to see their former students in their caps and gowns.]]></description>

Third Grade is the first year of State Testing. The scores were based on the last State Test Scores available in English Language Arts (2017-18 and 2018-19).]]></description>

Last week, students were given a Friday challenge of “Who could build the tallest structure?” The students and their families created structures using household materials. Once constructed, they measured and submitted the height of their structures to the classroom teacher. The winner with the tallest structure received the honor of selecting the Fun Friday songs to be played in their weekly class Zoom meeting. 				<title><![CDATA[Magnolia School District Continues its Hard Work to Serve the Needs of Our Students and Families]]></title>

					<description><![CDATA[Magnolia School District continues its partnership with Giving Children Hope, an organization that delivers weekly backpacks to some of our District families.  Normally, these backpacks are filled with food and put together by members of their organization and then distributed to Magnolia School District families.  

During these unprecedented times, Giving Children Hope is able to deliver the food to our District, but is not able to fill the backpacks. We are very proud of our teachers, who step in and volunteer their time to fill these backpacks for our families each week.  The District is so thankful to have such amazing and dedicated employees.  The teachers response to the call for help was so overwhelming some of the volunteers had to be turned away.  Teachers help assemble the food bags and distribute them to our families.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[The Ceramics Club was established three years ago at Juliette Low School of the Arts by Ms. Laura Stock, RSP Teacher. At the time, she was taking advanced ceramics classes at Fullerton College and wanted to share her passion for this art form with students. During the first year of the club’s establishment, Fullerton College provided their kilns to fire students’ projects. During the second year, Ms. Stock purchased a kiln and is now firing the students’ projects at her home studio. In addition to Ms. Stock, Mrs. Hong Nguyen, kindergarten teacher, has assisted with the club, supporting students after school with their unique designs.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Twenty-three Juliette Low artists showcased their beautiful pieces at Senator Chang’s Art Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 24 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center.   In the Third through Fifth Grade Division, Aanya Shah, fifth grade student, received Honorable Mention for her colored pencil drawing entitled “Flower Vase.”   In the same division, Bahista Khairkhwah, fifth grade student, received Fifth Place for her painting, “Landscape,” which was done in oil pastel.   A fourth grade student, Jade Nguyen, won the Staff Favorite Award for her acrylic painting, entitled, “A Home in Progress.”]]></description>

Yet, in front of our eyes, the animals die.
An earth filled with trash, an earth so dead,
No plants, no animals, no roses so red.”


This is an excerpt from a poem entitled “Only an Earth,” which was read by sixth grade student, Maanya Arora, at the Earth Day poetry reading on Monday, April 22, at the Anaheim Central Library.  Anaheim students were invited by our Poet Laureate of Anaheim, Mr. Grant Hier, to read their original poems inspired by Earth Day.  Dr. Von Sprecken, Principal, and Mrs. Todorovic, first grade teacher, attended this exciting event.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[On Friday, October 19, Juliette Low students, families and staff enjoyed the largest annual Harvest Carnival to date. The carnival featured a wide variety of game booths; a puppy petting zoo; cake walk; face painting; a cartoonist, who provided caricatures of participants; necklace engravers; and an obstacle course.  Raffles took place throughout the afternoon for entertainment at a variety of venues, as well as items such as a foldable bicycle.  Participants enjoyed feasting on taco dinners as well as the standard carnival foods, such as hotdogs, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, and shaved ice.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Juliette Low School of the Arts has had the privilege of being chosen to participate in the Lang Lang International Music Foundation Keys of Inspiration program.  The music foundation was started by world-famous concert piano player Lang Lang. Keys of Inspiration is a national music intervention program, focusing on helping schools with limited resources.  The Lang Lang International Music Foundation teamed with Roland, and The Royal Conservatory of Music to build a state of the art piano lab with 31 brand new keyboards at Juliette Low School of the Arts.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[For the last five years, the month of May has signaled the time for the annual MEEF Food and Fun Festival.  This year was the biggest festival to date!  Gourmet food trucks had a fantastic food variety for sale, from Flying Hawaiian Sliders to Korean BBQ Beef Bowls. 

Live performances included musical selections by members of the Advanced Magnolia School District Band, Patriotic songs by 2nd Graders from across the district, Juliette Low School of the Arts student’s reenacted parts of their yearly musical, Disney School Polynesian Dancers showed their skill, and Hula and Flamenco Dancers provided a splendid finale to the student performances.]]></description>

The District partnered with ENGIE, formerly known as OpTerra Energy Services.  As a result of this partnership, a comprehensive energy plan was developed that will generate $14.1 million dollars in net savings for the District over the next 30 years.]]></description>
